There has been a lot of discussion around the consideration of an operator agreement with GreatLIFE, Utah for the day-to-day work of operating the Eaglewood Golf Course. I have been impressed with the involvement of community members in voicing their concerns with this agreement.
The issue, as I understand it, is that the golf course is currently operating at a loss. This means the city is losing money on the course.
The solution, I believe, is currently an unknown.
I feel that it will be important to gather various knowledgeable stakeholders as a committee, or board, in order to:
- clearly identify the specific reasons the course is operating at a loss
- propose solutions that will reduce expenses
- find additional ways to fund the operation of the golf course & maximize the revenues
- identify other options that will eliminate the loss of city funding
I feel we are lucky to have the Eaglewood Golf Course in our city. Let’s work together to figure out how to be fiscally responsible with taxpayer funds while making the most of what our city has to offer.
